SALT IN THE AIR (documentary-in-progress) is about salt and its medicinal, industrial and mythological qualities.
We approach salt through the stories of people living in a small Ukrainian village called Solotvyno, which is located deep in the Carpathian Mountains on the border of Romania.
Beneath the town lies an ancient and enormous salt deposit of some 70 billion tons. Inhaling this uniquely structured sodium chloride in the ideal microclimate of the salt mine can virtually cure asthma in children. Today, the salt mine is collapsing and the coming months and years will spell out Solotvyno's future.
